Love & Romance Shaker Card

I had been wanting to share this card but due to the product release I had to wait till the products are officially in store. I held on to this for quite awhile after that for more product sneak peeks (it's awesome to design for this amazing company, so many new products to play with!) so now here it is! This card was made with the Love & Romance collection. 

The hearts are from an embossing folder, I colored it with one of the newest Sparkle Pens - the Vintage hues set. You can still catch these amazing pens at a special deal on HSN or you can purchase them directly from Crafter's Companion's website.

Keep It Rolling!

Hello all! I'm back today with a fun project you can create and play with your kids! I saw this project idea - "activity cubes" on Pinterest the other day and immediately I knew I must give it a try. And these actually got my kids to do some house chores happily and voluntarily! My son even used the original dice to do his homework. 

These cubes/dices measure 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" big and with the colorful pop-tones cardstocks they just look so cheerful and exciting!

Direction:

Step 1: Download SVG file at the bottom of post. Open the file on your Silhouette Designer Studio and cut the following image.

 Following is what you will get...

Step 2: Print and cut the titles for the cube(s). These are included in the svg file as well.

Step 3: Assemble the cube by gluing the flaps together then adhere the titles to the cube.

Here is how it looks like... Let the fun begins!

My son used these for his math homework, the big dice is so much easier to handle for his little hands than those tiny-sized ones.

Sneak Peek! Gemini Machine!!

Gemini die-cutting/embossing machine by Crafter's Companion is going to be here soon on the 6th next month on HSN so don't forget to tune in that day to catch the special offer! This automated machine allows you to die-cut and emboss effortlessly. I made this hairband for my daughter using Gemini with felts! Yes, it cuts felt as well and many other mediums. Isn't this lovely?! But this is not the only thing you can do, you can create other type of projects with Gemini as well such as paper crafts, sewing, etc! 

The best part I love about this machine is that it has "pause/forward" and "reverse" buttons! Love love love this feature, so when you have project that goes haywire half way you can hit the "reverse" button so it won't ruin the rest of your project. Cool right?! This is so far the best quality automated machine I ever had. 

 I don't think I will ever purchase another hairband from the store from now on. :)

On Your Special Card (Stick-It Adhesive)

Have you tried the Stick-It adhesive by Ken Oliver? It's awesome! This is also my first try with fun foams and they work very well together. I fell in love with this Stick-It adhesive! I have always had this problem getting intricate piece to stick to my project but with Stick-It, it works like a charm! It literally saved my life! lol...

Letterpress Effect Using Metal Die

I'm back with another card using the same Cabbage Rose die I posted couple weeks ago, if you missed it - click here! Today I want to show you another way to use this die, this time we will print the pattern of the die on the card stock paper. Letterpress? Why not?!

To do this you will need a dauber and an ink pad of your choice. I love this pink and purple-ish color on my grey pattern card stock. Start by inking the inside of the die (where the cut line is), secure the die with a tape on the paper and run it through your cutting machine. The pressure will force the ink to print on the card stock paper. Again, this works best if you use thicker card stock paper. 

TIPS: 

- Apply even color on the die for a better result. 

- Clean the die completely before you start with a different color.

4th of July Stamp Sets

Looking for 4th of July Stamp Sets? They are now coming to Crafter's Companion website! I created this card with the the stamp sets listed at the end of post. I used the firework stamps with foils and they are perfect for creating customized background for card!

I chose black cardstock for the dark sky and colorful fireworks using gold, teal and pink color foils. This is my first time printing foils using my printer. You heard it right, my printer! I had tried foiling with my regular laminator but it doesn't work every time and I don't want to invest in the MINC machine which I heard it's pretty much another laminator except that it has power settings. So I gave this method a try and worked like a charm! Awesome..!! 

Tips: Make sure you use laser printer, an inkjet printer will not work! If you are working with different colors of foils, simply cut the foil into small pieces and secure it with tape over the area you want to apply the foil. I only tape on one side of the foil (the side where cardstock is fed to the printer), taping both sides of foil might cause bubble trapped in the area to be foiled and ruin the outcome.
