Xyron, Core'dinations and Petaloo Blog Hop!

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Good day everyone! Welcome to Xyron, Core'dinations and Petaloo blog hop! Thank you for taking time to check out my post as I'm sharing two projects I created for this blog hop today. I'm so grateful and happy to have such a chance to create using products from three fabulous companies. One of the projects I'm sharing today is a Halloween project since we are still in October. :) Believe it or not, I've never celebrated Halloween before I moved to the States!

Now that I have my own kids, the exposure to Halloween is greater because of how much the little ones love Halloween! So, I think it would be a great idea to make something for my daughter because this year she will be going trick or treating with her brother. I had this plastic container of a cake (it was a my favorite chocolate mousse cake!) that my husband brought from Whole Foods , immediately I thought of turning it into a Halloween Trick-or-Treat bucket - a girly one for my little princess!

What do you think? I even have a tutorial for this if you'd like to make one yourself. Don't forget to check out my second project at the end of this tutorial!

Tutorial starts here:

Step 1: Find a container that is not too big nor too small, I used a cake container they sell at Whole Foods

Step 2: Apply adhesive on to a strip of ribbon and wrap it around the top of the container

Step 3: Trim four strips of orange paper from Core'dinations at about 1-1/4" wide and four strips of white card stocks at 1-1/4" wide (only orange strips of card stocks are shown here for illustration purpose).

Step 4: Emboss the orange strips of card stocks, I used my big shot to do this and I used two different embossing folders for each different layer that I wrapped around the container.

Step 5: Sand all embossed strips of card stocks using Core'dinations Sand It Block

Step 6: Run the sanded strips of embossed card stocks through Xyron Sticker Maker

Step 7: Wrap around container with alternate color of the strip of card stocks such as white-orange-white-orange (bottom up, for first layer of white card stocks, leave about 1/2" on the outside. Refer to Step 10), you will need two strips of card stocks for every stage. When you are done, hot glue trims of ribbon from Petaloo to where the two different strips of card stocks joined such as shown in picture below.

Step 8: Embellishing the container with Petaloo paper flowers with hot glue

Step 9: To cover the bottom of the container, trace the circle on a Core'dinations card stock and cut it out.

Step 10: Glue the exposed strips of card stocks to the bottom of container.

Step 10: Place the cut-out circle from Step 9 on top of the result from Step 10. glue it with hot glue. The glue Petaloo's lace ribbon around the edge of the circle

Step 11: Embellish the container with butterfly cut-outs (use core'dinations  card stock, emboss and sand it), Petaloo paper flowers, blings, ribbons and son on!

This is how it turns out!

The handle is very sturdy and allow to hold up great even when the bucket is full!

Products used:
- Lifestyle Crafts Embossing Folders
- Blings
- Celebrate It Ribbons
- Couture Creations Embossing Folder

It's so hard for me to take a full 360 degree picture of the bucket so I taped a quick video instead... hehe

My second project for today - SENDING YOU Warm Thoughts Card:

I used Core'dinations card stock for embossing, Petaloo's flower for embellishment and of course my Xyron mega runner does all the magic to put them together! :) Applied some modeling paste on the sentiment piece/frame, I love the texture it gives to the frame!

    1. wow...what kind of costume do you sew Shari? because my little girl is looking for the princess vanelope outfit but we couldn't find it! Was going to DIY it but I can't find white color sweater to dye it either! So we'll probably find a more generic princess dress for her.
