Recipe Storage Box

Wednesday, September 3, 2014
Hi all, Alexia here to share with you a recipe box that I created using Clear Scraps September kit. This box is great to keep all your recipe cards together, if you have more than one categories (such as soup, cake, etc), simply create a tab as category divider. Scroll down this post for a step by step instruction if you are thinking to make one of this too!

Step 1: We need three chip boards in original size (two for front and back and one for the bottom of the box), cut same size of card stock and adhere to the chip boards.

Step 2: Take another two new chipboard in original size, use a scissor and trim off about 1 7/8 inches in height like picture below. Cover the remaining  piece of chip board with card stock (trim card stock to fit the chip board).

Step 3: Trim a strip of card stock that is approximately 2 x 4” in size then use border punch and punch two sides of the strip of card stock, after that fold the strip in half (or use a scoring board is easier). Using a sticker maker run the strip through the sticker maker, adhere one half of the strip to one side of the chipboard from Step 2 and the other half of the strip to a 4x6” clear acrylic piece.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 but use the second piece of trimmed chip board in Step 2 and adhere on the same acrylic piece.

Step 5: Take one of the card stock decorated chipboard from Step 1, decorate the surface with card stock stickers that come with the kit.

This is how the back of the decorative elements look like in the back

Step 6: Take second piece of card stock decorated chipboard from Step 1, decorate the front with colored paper flowers (brads in the middle in the flowers are not included in the kit).

Step 7: Assemble the box. Chipboard from Step 6 is placed behind the acrylic piece, using glue gun hot glue the bottom of that chipboard to the bottom piece (the one in Step 5) about an inch away from the acrylic piece.

Step 8: Close the box by hot glue the last or third piece of chipboard from Step 1 to the edge of bottom piece of chip board.

Here is the end result, 3-dimensional view of the box.  I took one of the card stock stickers that says “Love being in my kitchen” and decorate at the front of the acrylic piece.

I hope you enjoy making this cute recipe card box because I had so much fun creating it!
