Made this awhile back with detailed step-by-step instructions to create this pop-up card. I doubled the fun by adding pop-up elements on both sides of the card. Check out the following pictures to see what I mean! When the card is open it can sit on the wide base, perfect for mantelpiece display.
It's like glueing two separate pop-up cards together and since it's thicker than it usually is, I had to make a card "box" instead of using the regular envelope. If the box is sturdy enough, it can even be mailed as it is. I think it would look very cute.
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare two construction cardstocks size 5 ¼" x 10", score and fold in half.
Step 2: Make two small cuts (about 1" long each) along the folded line (as shown in picture above). Fold inward to form the pop-up base for the card, as illustrated in third picture above. Do the same to the other construction cardstock.
Step 3: Prepare all the cut-out pieces to be used as decorations. These mixed media dies can be cut on different mediums such as (chipboard, foam felt and so on).
Step 4: Color the foam flowers (if preferred) with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.
Step 5: Prepare the patterned paper for the card base, trim paper accordingly to accommodate the 3D pop-up piece. Adhere the patterned papers to the card base and start embellishing the card as desired.
Step 6: Connect two finished pop-up cards together with double-sided tapes.
Step 7: Decorate the outside of the card with patterned paper.
Step 8: Make the envelope box for the 3D pop-up card using the measurement in picture above. Embellish the box with butterfly shape cut-out and ribbon.
Remove the card from the envelope box and a back-to-back pop-up card will be revealed
