Happy Christmas Card With DIY background pattern

Have you sent all your holidays card out yet? Sharing this card using Chloe's stamps and die today. I used foil over the holly leaves instead of stamps. The background was made by coloring a silver glitter stock with a green Spectrum Noir alcohol marker! Love the look of it, who says you need to use patterned paper all the time?! :)

Foiling On Acetate Holidays Card

Here is the new card I made with foiling on acetate, I like to try  out different medium on my card to add special feature for the card. What do you think about this card? 

It's kinda see-through but with some falling foiled snowflakes element on the front. I embossed the sentiment in gold to give it a slight dimension.

Sara Davies Signature Black & Gold Collection

Black and Gold, it's one of the best combination of colors ever (in my opinion). The crafting expert Sara Davies (also the mastermind behind Crafter's Companion) came up with this collection Black & Gold and I think it's a fabulous idea! The patterned papers look good for making elegant project like one I did below. A home decor frame that will fit in any room perfectly. I'm thinking kitchen, bedroom, living room and even rest room (I'm not joking!). I think it will light up the room or at least gives it a completely different modern look. 

Sara is bringing this collection to HSN this coming October 3rd (which is next Tuesday!) so make sure to set your alarm clock and watch Sara and Jennifer demonstrate the entire collection with you! Geared Up Scrapbook Layout

It has been awhile since the last time I made a layout so today I'm sharing this one that I created for Crafter's Companion's HSN show back on July 11th! I love this scrapbook layout so much because it has always been hard for me to make a masculine layout for my boy but the gears dies by Crafter's Companion has nailed it perfectly for this theme. 

I die-cut a whole bunch of foam shapes using these gear dies (I used adhesive foam sheets by the way and adhered a layer of Ken Oliver's Stick-It adhesives on the other side of the foam so that both sides will be sticky) and foiled it with Crafter's Companion foil. 

Love the sparkly gold foil! And the hot air balloon die is so darn cute!

Geared Up Card

These adorable gears are from Sheena's Time Traveler's Stamps and Dies collection, don't they look marvelous?! I used it to make this masculine card and super liking the result. Showed it to my 6 years old boy and he said he liked the gears very much because they look like real gears (his critique are the only one I need. lol) 

To create such a rusty look I first adhered a layer of gold foil over a cardstock, cut out the gear shapes using the coordinating dies and stamp the image of the gears onto the foiled surface.  Then these gears were adhered to the pre-cut foam gears (adhesive foam sheet) to give the card a dimensional feel. And it just so happened that I had this clock printed patterned cardstock, just what I needed for these gears!

The sentiment is from Sheena's Time Traveler's (Time Machine) stamp set, I heat-embossed it with white embossing powder so it doesn't blend into the background like it would with black ink.

You Fill My Heart With Love Card With Foiling Kit

Wonder what you can do with the Crafter's Companion foiling kit you bought? What type of projects are your favorite when it comes to paper crafting? The two main paper crafting I do are scrapbooking (this is actually what that got me into crafting in the first place) and card making but since it takes longer to scrapbook so I decided to make a card instead today (I should probably get back to scrapbooking soon I hope, pictures of my kids are piling up!).

Here is the card I made using the foiling kit, no heat no mess. Like I mentioned in my previous posts, it's like rub-ons and it works like a charm every time! Of course I had to use my favorite gold and silver cardstocks from the Together Forever collection by Sara Davies (if you don't know by now how much I looove gold and glittery cardstocks). hehe. The thickness of the cardstock is also perfect for dry embossing, it gives you the depth and beautiful texture you can feel on your fingers. Simply love! Shaker Card With Create-a-Card Shutter Die

Watch out! Some super cool stuffs are coming to HSN next month on May 9th. I'm so excited with this new Create-a-card dies by Crafter's Companion! So grateful to be on their design team to get my hands on them before they are being released. Here is my card using one of the Create-a-Card bundles - Shutter dies, it's hot off the press!

Made this shaker card although it's a little difficult to see the sequins behind the window panels. These dies are undeniably fun to play with, with just a few cuts and you can achieve this multi-dimensional result. I added some foiling elements using Crafter's Companion foiling kit as well as the sentiment. Don't forget to check out the luxury cardstocks too, they come in three different kind of textures such as mirror, foiled and glittered cardstocks all in one pack (10 sheets each) so you can try out all of them at the same time. I simply love the purple, blue, red, silver, green....ok, maybe all of them. LOL.

Happiness Card Wtih Foil Transfer

Have you tried the foiling kit by Crafter's Companion? It doesn't requires foiling machine or heat! It works like rub-ons and it's very easy to apply the foil. Sharing with you today is this card I created on a black cardstock which I think looks really good with the copper foil. I really like the foil designs too, they are different sets available that you to choose from. 

I only colored the flower in the center to create the focus point for the card. These foil kits are available on HSN currently and speaking of HSN, Crafter's Companion will be releasing a bunch of new products on HSN this May 9th. So make sure to check back my next blog post for the sneak peeks! Like I usually would say, you are definitely going to fall in love with the new stuffs. ***grin***

Card With Crafter's Companion Foil Transfer - HSN March 21st

I have been into foiling for a long time now, I own a machine that does foiling but I'm not quite happy with the result due to few factors. One of them being my laser printer, it doesn't print image with even coverage of toner thus the foil doesn't stick to the entire image. It leaves the final result with black spots. I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the machine since it functions like a regular laminator except with different level of heat settings.

Anyway, Crafter's Companion came out with this super cool foiling method where heat is not required in the process! It's like rub-ons, the foil sticks to the sticky images and the result comes out perfect each time. Error-free. Love these so much I wish they will release more different designs in the future. Foiling on Matching Card and Envelope

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas / Holidays! Can't believe we are in the new year already and what's coming next is the Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year! The Lunar New Year falls on the 28th of January this year (it's different each year referring to the Lunar Calendar). So I make some cards with matching envelopes to be sent to my family who live on the other side of the planet (I miss them dearly!). 

To those of you who are curious about why red is the color? In Chinese culture red symbolizes good fortune, joy and prosperity. Which is why red packets/envelopes and Chinese New Year cards are usually in red. 

First I printed some Koi images on a cardstock with my laser printer (only the toner from laser printer will work with the foiling process). I then run the images through Heidi Swapp foiling machine with gold foil sheet). Next step would be coloring the foiled images using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. Fussy-cut the images out for use on the card, apply double-sided foam tapes on the back of the cutouts and position them on the card for a dimensional look.

For the envelopes, I printed the same image on the corner of my envelopes using my laser printer then I run it through the foiling machine as shown below. The foil sheet should be placed over the printed image, note that all printed area should be completely covered with foil or the toner will stick to the transfer folder (the clear plastic shown in picture). Also, make sure there is no small particle in between the printed cardstock and the foil sheet or it will result in unevenly foiled image. Choosing the right paper/cardstock is also very important in foiling, I researched and learned that cardstock with smooth/glossy surface will give a perfect smooth and sleek (spotless) foiled surface compared to a textured one.

See picture below for before and after the foiling, don't you just love the sparkly gold? It's so cool to receive this in the mail! And it matches the card, how I wish someone would send me one! :)

For the address label, I used the Avery label you can find in CutCardStock store. Did you know you can print the labels on Avery website? Besides, they are a lot of free templates you can choose from. I also just found out you can choose to print on certain labels on the page instead of the whole sheet of 30 labels! This is good when you only want to print few labels for one per person and use the rest for different addresses.
