Love In Bloom Stackable Photo Cube

Saturday, January 28, 2017
Hi all! I'm back! Do you know today is the Lunar New Year? It's the year of Rooster this year! I supposed to be cooking and feasting with the family yesterday on the eve day but unfortunately the kids and husband are not feeling good so the plan cancelled. We ended up eating takeout pizza but no one complained. LOL. I had nothing to complain since I didn't have to cook and clean anything. ***grin*** The sad feeling flooded in when I started scrolling down my Facebook wall and seeing all the Chinese New Year posts/pictures shared by my friends and family from the other side of the world makes my heart sours a bit..ok maybe a lot. Lol. Anyway, I usually feel better after the first day of CNY which is TODAY, so I'm counting down for few more hours and I will be better.

Sharing with you today is a project I created for Valentine's day. I used my kids pictures for this project because I really don't take much pictures these days especially decent looking one with nice/beautiful background. My family and I went to take the fall family pictures by the lake with a professional photographer but we haven't get the pictures yet so I don't know how well the pictures look. Wish to get them soon!!

So this stackable photo cube allows you to pull out the bottom cube, reveal the secret word "LOVE" and stack it on the top. I think it looks nice for a home decor, what do you think?

Supplies:

- Crafter's Companion Construction Cardstock
- Diesire Mixed Media Dies (Contemporary Hearts)
- Sara Signature Love and Romance 6x6 Paper Pad
- Shimmering Cardstock 8 x 11.5" (Candy Red)
- Big Score Board
- Gemini Machine

Another Chinese New Year Card!

Monday, January 23, 2017
Another Chinese New Year card today to share with you, probably the last one for this year. I actually made a couple of them but didn't get to take the pictures as I was sending them out overseas and time was pretty tight. It usually takes 3 weeks for my family and friends to receive them so I had to get them out the mail as quickly as I could.

Sharing with you today is a card made using Crafter's Companion products. Downtown Abbey collection die and Sheena's A Little Bit Oriental stamps! For a complete list of supplies used, see the end of post. I first use Sparkle Pens to create the red and gold background on a watercolor paper then overlay it with cutout from Downtown Abbey die. The border in red is also created using Sparkle Pen. For the lantern and sentiment, they were printed and foiled using Heidi Swapp Minc machine, I simply love the sparkly gold effect!

Supplies:
- Kimono Blossom Branch Die

Others:
- Heidi Swapp Machine
- Gold Foil

Envelope Box using A7 Envelope

Friday, January 20, 2017
Hello! I'm back today with an envelope transformation project to share with you. I will show you how to make this card storage gift box and treat box using A7 envelopes! Now your envelopes are not only for two dimensional use for sending letters but also for good for storing yummy treats and other bigger items! The envelope card box is perfect for storing 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards and matching envelopes.

Send Valentine's cards set as gift in this handmade card storage box!

Or filled it up with sweet treats for your valentine!

Directions:
- Place envelope horizontally and score at 1/2" on both sides of the envelope.

- Fold along scored lines. Open the envelope flap and cut the excess as shown in picture below. Make a small cut at the bottom of the envelope as well.

- Open folds to form a box, glue the side flaps at the bottom of envelope.

- Embellish envelope with patterned paper

To make the treat box, simply leave the envelope flap unfold and decorate it with patterned paper and other embellishments. Also made a card using the 6x6 paper pad cutout and some water-colored hearts using Gansai Watercolor (this watercolor is fabulous by the way!).

Love Birds with Create-a-Card Die

Wednesday, January 11, 2017
Not sure if you followed us last Tuesday when Crafter's Companion is on HSN with all day long craft deals, so I'm here to share with you again one of the projects I made with the good stuffs released by Crafter's Companion. One of them being these amazing Create-a-Card dies! I'm in love with all Create-a-Card dies because they are so easy to use and make a card in just few minutes, honest! (without detailed embellishments which might takes little longer than that).

Here is the card made with Love Birds Create-a-Card die, isn't just breathtaking?! For a quick and elegant card, one pass through the die-cutting machine will actually do but since I like a more elaborate look I die-cut it twice on two different cardstocks then cut the birds and birdhouse out from one of them. Layer and glue the fussy cutout on top of the blue patterned pape and that's it! Valentine's day is next month, plenty of time to get cards made now and drop them in the mail!

Here are other Create-a-Card dies you can still purchase from HSN, they come in a 3-piece bundle!

Supplies used on this card:
- Create-a-Card Bird House Die
Shimmering Cardstock 8.5" x 11" 8pc package - Coastal Pearl
Shimmering Cardstock 8.5" x 11" 8pc package - Rose Pearl
- Gemini Machine

Handmade Gift Bag Using New With Love Die

Sunday, January 8, 2017
Looking for some quick and easy gift bag design idea? Check this out! All I use on this project was a 12 x 12 patterned cardstock paper, borderless die and a trim of ribbon! Sometimes the less is more! First I die-cut the top portion of the bag with "With Love" die and underlay it with red cardstock to make the words pop! Punch holes on opening/closing flaps and fasten with ribbon. It's that simple!

Crafter's Companion has the most varieties of products ever! You can find paper, dies, stamps, coloring tools, adhesives and much more! It's an one-stop shopping for crafters! I'm so grateful for the given opportunity to design for such wonderful company!

This is especially good since Valentine is next month, won't be too soon to make it now (time just passes so quickly nowadays!).

You don't want to miss the show, see the entire event list here and catch every single one of them!

Foiling on Matching Card and Envelope

Saturday, January 7, 2017
Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas / Holidays! Can't believe we are in the new year already and what's coming next is the Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year! The Lunar New Year falls on the 28th of January this year (it's different each year referring to the Lunar Calendar). So I make some cards with matching envelopes to be sent to my family who live on the other side of the planet (I miss them dearly!).

To those of you who are curious about why red is the color? In Chinese culture red symbolizes good fortune, joy and prosperity. Which is why red packets/envelopes and Chinese New Year cards are usually in red.

First I printed some Koi images on a cardstock with my laser printer (only the toner from laser printer will work with the foiling process). I then run the images through Heidi Swapp foiling machine with gold foil sheet). Next step would be coloring the foiled images using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. Fussy-cut the images out for use on the card, apply double-sided foam tapes on the back of the cutouts and position them on the card for a dimensional look.

For the envelopes, I printed the same image on the corner of my envelopes using my laser printer then I run it through the foiling machine as shown below. The foil sheet should be placed over the printed image, note that all printed area should be completely covered with foil or the toner will stick to the transfer folder (the clear plastic shown in picture). Also, make sure there is no small particle in between the printed cardstock and the foil sheet or it will result in unevenly foiled image. Choosing the right paper/cardstock is also very important in foiling, I researched and learned that cardstock with smooth/glossy surface will give a perfect smooth and sleek (spotless) foiled surface compared to a textured one.

See picture below for before and after the foiling, don't you just love the sparkly gold? It's so cool to receive this in the mail! And it matches the card, how I wish someone would send me one! :)

For the address label, I used the Avery label you can find in CutCardStock store. Did you know you can print the labels on Avery website? Besides, they are a lot of free templates you can choose from. I also just found out you can choose to print on certain labels on the page instead of the whole sheet of 30 labels! This is good when you only want to print few labels for one per person and use the rest for different addresses.

I hope you like this project, I will be back to share more project ideas soon! Happy crafting!

Happy Birthday Card Using Birthday Party Collection!

Thursday, January 5, 2017
Into Scrapbooking? Yes, Crafter's Companion got it covered! Sara Signature Birthday Party paper crafting collection is coming to HSN on the 10th of January. But this collection is not just for scrapbooking, you can also use it to make cards (it has pre-cut decorative elements in the 12x12 cardstock stack, all you have to do is pop it out and embellish!).

I made the following card with most of the pre-card elements from the 12x12 stack (except the Happy Birthday sentiment die, which is also available on HSN on the same day!). The soft pastel colors are so pretty, don't you agree?

More details about what and when will be aired? See schedule below and set the alarm!
